Bitcoin Tribe Wallet: Anant Tapadia at Tuscany Lightning Summit 2025

At the Tuscany Lightning Summit 2025 in Viareggio, Italy, Anant Tapadia, CEO of Bitcoin Tribe, explained the idea behind his mobile wallet for RGB Protocol on Bitcoin and the plan to bring RGB assets to everyday users.

Note: the interview dates back to May 2025. The products and plans in this article reflect the state of the project at the time.

In Brief

  • Bitcoin as a protocol for value: besides a monetary asset, Bitcoin can carry real-world assets, and RGB makes it possible
  • RGB for everyone: a wallet on iOS and Android, with the technical details in the background
  • Sats as fuel: users see only a fee, with no UTXO management
  • Trust in assets: a registry where issuers can link an asset to their X account or domain

The Bitcoin Tribe Wallet: RGB for Everyone

Anant started from a point often missed on social media: Bitcoin is a monetary asset but also a protocol, a bit like a messaging protocol where each message carries its own value. With RGB, the same protocol can host real-world assets such as fiat currencies, and in his view these assets would bring more fees for miners, more adoption, and better wallets, as a bridge between the old financial world and the new one. The first goal of Bitcoin Tribe was access: at the time, according to Anant, Tribe was the only RGB wallet on both iOS and Android, a key point for users who mostly live on their phones. The second goal was simplicity, with Bitcoin, Lightning, and RGB kept in the background: users never hear about UTXOs for the issuance of an asset, because the app treats sats as fuel for RGB operations and only shows the fee of each transaction.

A Registry, a Roadmap, and a Tribe

Anyone can issue an RGB asset with any name, so Bitcoin Tribe also built a registry where issuers can sign their assets and link them to their X handle or their domain, and whoever receives or buys the asset can check its origin. Anant described the roadmap on three levels: on the technical side, updates for every RGB upgrade, with tests and user feedback; on the ecosystem side, partnerships with swap services and infrastructure providers like ThunderStack, today Utexo; on the economic side, work with real issuers, because without real assets RGB would remain “just a toy”. The name of the wallet comes from the idea of social trust. With self-custody, no institution holds the assets, so people tend to rely on friends and family, and Bitcoin Tribe wants to bring together value capital and social capital, with your tribe as a support for the management and custody of your assets.

Since Then

Bitcoin Tribe is listed among the mainnet RGB wallets on the rgb.info Projects page, available on iOS and Android. For the latest status, visit bitcointribe.app.
